I finished The Nasty Bits by Bourdain. It was an entertaining read, however like with most short stories and articles, I feel I am left needing more.
Right now I’m reading:
The Yacoubian Building – Alaa Al Aswany

Finished with Atonement. Loved how the story was narrated in 4 different parts and therefore points of views. I don’t know how that would be captured in film.
Anyway, now I’m reading:
The Nasty Bits – Anthony Bourdain
High Fidelity - Nick Hornby
Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything - Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner
Heat – Bill Buford
Saved into my Wish List for the future
I’m a frustrated cook, but I’ve been hooked on these books!
Still alive and reading, although my arms aren’t as pleased with the size of this book.
I am enjoying the story quite a bit. I love how Tolstoy goes deep into his characters and their stories without really “judging” them. Take Pierre’s drunken party fiasco. Society judged him, but Tolstoy didn’t. Actually, a few pages later, he made you almost feel pity for poor Pierre when his closest family members where shunning him. I like how Tolstoy lets you come up with your own conclusions on the characters.
The sheer amount of characters is still intimidating though!
Kafka on the Shore – Haruki Murakami
Kitchen Confidential – Anthony Bourdain
Vanity Fair – William Makepeace Thackeray
Oh my goodness. I’ve only read about 100 pages and I’m already lost with all the different characters. There’s a new character every other paragraph.
So far, so good. Tolstoy’s writing is less tedious than Dostoevsky’s which allows me to submerge myself in the story without frowning too much. It makes me believe that even though the book is a big one, it won’t be a dense reading compared to Dostoevsky.
Ok, here we go. First attempt to track my books. I will first start with the books I have at my current location. Those scattered around the world would have to wait. I’ll keep updating the list throughout the days. I’m a busy woman, what can I say?
Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows - J.K. Rowling
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince – J. K. Rowling
Half of aYellow Sun – Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
War and Peace- Leo Tolstoy
The Yacoubian Building – Alaa Al Aswany
